The next meeting of the North Florida Amateur Radio Society is Thursday, September 14th at Hogan Baptist Church, 8045 Hogan Rd. The meeting begins at 7pm and everyone is invited.

AUGUST MEETING: Several spots are being considered for the NOFARS Christmas gathering. Possible dates include Saturday, December 9th and Thursday, December 14th. Pat, KB4BKX and John, W4IJJ spoke about progress aboard the U.S.S. Orleck and the radio room. Henry, WB4LEQ reported on the W4IZ repeater and the slow progress of improvements at the Wells Fargo site by city contractors. Several NOFARS members met with District 7 City Councilman Jimmy Peluso who represents the downtown area. They briefed him on ham radio and its role during activations. Two YouTube videos provided the meeting program. It was voted to appropriate up to $250 for a refurbished laptop computer to be used to tie into the church's video monitors for meeting programs.
NOFARS HATS: Roger, KI4PIL is arranging for hats with NOFARS triangular logo. These will be awarded for a $20 donation to the W4IZ repeater fund.
JACKSONVILLE FREE HAMFEST: It is Saturday, October 28th at Hogan Baptist Church, 8045 Hogan Rd. This is the same location as NOFARS monthly meetings. Our outdoor gatherings are no longer at Terry Parker Baptist Church. Plan to join us at our new location. See the JaxRadio.net hamfest page.
FIFTH SATURDAY FOOD: John, W4IJJ invites all to attend ham radio breakfasts at Golden Corral restaurant during months that have five Saturdays. These meals begin at 9AM in various locations on the morning of the fifth Saturday. The next one is September 30th. Listen to W4IZ/R nets for the location.
